Eagle Ceremony Guidance

Pick a Place

Find a place that you want to have your Eagle Ceremony. Our troop tends to have ours at our sponsor church, Wesley United Methodist Church, but you can do it somewhere else. The Church Liaison for the troop will assist in contacting the church if you chose to have your ceremony at Wesley United Methodist Church.

Pick a Date

Find a date at least six weeks from turning in your Eagle Application, to allow your award to arrive, but you might want a bit longer because timeliness depends on how busy they are. Make sure the date works with the place you want to have the ceremony and the scout schedule.

Chose the Type of Ceremony

Chose the type of ceremony you want and start adapting it to your liking.

Ask for Scouts and Leaders

Ask the scouts and leaders you would like to be in your ceremony as soon as possible to see if they will be able to attend and hand out invites.

Plan Reception

You want to plan the recption and buy scout related decorations (center pieces, table clothes, Eagle display table, slide show of scout years, balloons, napkins, etc.) at least two weeks in advance. Decide what type of food you would like (cake, snacks, drinks, food) and arrange for it to be there.

Finalize Everything

Make sure everything is decided and planned at least a week before the ceremony incase something were to change. Make sure your programs are printed and ready and a rehearsal is scheduled.

Have your Eagle Ceremony

Congratulations! This is when you get your patch and ID card. A good idea is to join National Eagle Scout Association, it is widely recognized, and gives scholarships for college.
